Or if you click here on the blue lettering there is a night view of Tokyo. That is Tokyo Tower over on the right.

The population of the contiguous urban area is about 35,000,000 (35 million). Depending on how you define “Tokyo” or “The Greater Tokyo Area” the population runs from 9 million to 43 million.

You could walk for days and not emerge from that urban density.

To get a woman’s-eye view on the ground anywhere in this concrete jungle just click and drag that little yellow guy in the top left corner here and plop him down anywhere there is a blue line (or area).

The first time I was in a back street in Tokyo it was overwhelming to think the density went on forever with no respite. I didn’t see how I could ever handle it. But I think your mind localizes and knows paths back to familiar places and from there back to home, which is really just your neighborhood. You end up having a lot of neighborhoods: your home neighborhood; your work neighborhood; various shopping neighborhoods; entertainment; friends, et al.

I used to think of Tokyo as a giant puzzle. It was fun and challenging to add more pieces to the puzzle. It still is fun. I would be tempted to set up my camera near a particularly slippery patch and take videos of it. LOL! - But I would warn elderly people to watch out.
