Tunnel of Sakura

It wasn't exactly blue skies outside when I took this but I kind of liked how retro the shot turned out. And it almost doesn't matter that you can't see the blue sky because there are cherry trees growing on both sides covering the river.

We were wondering what it would be like to climb down and walk in the river and see the cherry blossoms from below...wouldn't that be awesome?

  1. That is a lovely image, Kaori!

One of the teas that «Louis» sells in his coffee and tea business is a Japanese Sencha green tea with cherry and rose blossoms in it. This tea has a heavenly scent when it is brewing.

    1. So true, Grace. They are already fluttering to the ground already and I don't think I'm ready to say goodbye quite yet ;D

  4. If there's sunlight, you get a translucent effect. If there's no sunlight, you get a soft diffused effect. Either way, it's beautiful! This photo is a stunner.

PS: What does it look like from below? You should've asked the turtles! ^^

  13. I had the same thought as The Chieftess above: “The depth of the background flowers...wow!!! Gorgeous!!!” I don’t see how it could be any better if it were an actual 3-D photo. That patina of blue water is, yes, gorgeous!

Every so often down the length of Kandagawa there are ladder rungs, usually near bridges (like here on the left). If the water was deep and swift it could be dangerous, so I would never suggest to go down into the river, but it is possible. Maybe you could find a volunteer daredevil to take your camera down under those gorgeous (absolutely gorgeous!) trees. Surreptitiously, of course. And dressed like this.

(I mentioned it years ago) and It’s a little out of the way but the ICU cherry tree tunnel is quite nice. More details here.

    1. Well, you probably know that this river at this point is usually not deep enough to even drown. I'm always amazed that the ducks can actually swim there even though the level of water is so low! hehe. So yes, we probably could...but I'm a little too chicken to try ;D

  15. This may sound weird, but I could dive into your top photo of the sakura... looks so soft and comforting. And a sight for sore eyes. You know if I were there I'd be finding a way into that river, don't you, Kaori? LOL!
