Shake It Up

Shakey's is a pizza parlor that came to Japan from the US in 1973. They provided all-you-can-eat pizza when it was still a rare dish to serve and contributed to the growing popularity of pizza in Japan.

It's usually filled with families and young couples who come here to eat the various pizza they serve. They even have dessert pizzas. Ironically, I don't come here often but when I do, I tend to always go back for their fried potatoes. So good!

  6. Yes! Those thick-cut potatoes sing to my Irish ancestry.

I was so happy when I got a free T-shirt at the Shakey’s on Sun Road in Kichijoji. You can see the T-Shirt here.

  7. Shakeys also opened some outlets in Malaysia but since I left, I have forgotten about them! I've not had Shakeys in ages. Now, we see pizza hut more often... And I haven't seen them in Australia either.

  9. This is a great photo! When I first saw the thumbnail I thought that it was of some sort of Japanese lantern and then the close-up revealed that those were old style lights from the 70's. So fun! - I was also like, "Wha?" about the fried potatoes at a pizza place. I love how sharing food brings people together. Since I hate to cook, I just like to share coffee. LOL!

  11. Hi everyone! Thank you so much for your comments! I love the fact that some of you are suspicious of our pizza. And if you're wondering about the fried potatoes...you'll have to trust me on this, they are GOOD! ;D

I hear they are expanding so maybe you'll get to try some soon!

MilanBlogger -- The way you explain that is perfect! So true! ;D

Snowwhite -- I actually did try a couple. I don't know what I was expecting but the dessert pizzas were good! Kind of like crepe!
