Hanging On


How awesome is this.

The sound of cicada is a sign of summer here in Japan. And believe me, they can get pretty loud. You can also find their discarded skins, like this one, in the trees and bushes during this season.

I bet little boys still use these to chase after girls during recess.

  1. What a cool macro photo! I didn't know that y'all had these over there. We call them "katydids" in the South. I don't know why, but we just do. LOL!

  5. It’s kind of creepy at first, how much the molted skins look like whole live ones.

    As zentai (蝉退)Chinese herbalists use these as medicinal ingredients.

    And some people have had success using these to cover baldness (ha ha).
