Salt, Miso, or Soy Sause

I'm sure when you think of Asia, fun and tasty food vendors come to mind.

Well, we actually have them in Shinjuku, too! This is a portable ramen vendor right in front of Shinjuku Station. The night is still young so there's no customers yet. But I'm pretty sure the stools will be fully occupied later at night.

There's nothing like eating noodles outside at night! Have you ever tried it?

  1. Yes, indeed. During the 1950s when I was there in 1953-1956 I always stopped for noodles at these places. Then they had a roof and sides and two wheels and you could go inside and set down at a stool and the person went outside the back and brought you steaming hot noodles. This looks very familiar to me and I would stop and eat there if I could.

  14. My friends and I were great fans. You might call us ramen “rah men.”

Those stools and the ends of the noren make it look so convenient: すわるもたつも。

    「味噌で御願いします」。

As far as eating out how about the beer garden one of these days? Oh. It says Shinjuku Twilight here. What kind of all-you-can-drink system do they have anyway?
