A butterfly caught in the bridge above Myo-shoji River (妙正寺川).
There were some kids crossing the bridge ahead of me and they were pointing at the butterfly and shouting "Cho-cho, cho-cho!," which is how we say butterfly in Japanese.

It brings beauty to what looks to be a very utilitarian spot.
ReplyDeleteI really love that butterfly!
ReplyDeleteAre these canals or a river? I like the character of the place.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful artwork. I wish we had more things like this where I live.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kaori - another new word to add to my vocab. Think I'll remember it coz I'll have your photo to visualise. The bottom pic makes me think of the canals in Kyoto.
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing us both photos. In the bottom one we can clearly see the flowers. In the top one you impress us with that hand-set tile mosaic. I am also glad you took the photos from that angle: it is so much more interesting than if you had taken photos from this angle. (Yet with your knack for time of day and lighting you might just make any angle you choose interesting...).
ReplyDeleteOh, I just noticed some red ladybugs replacing your butterflies in the next bridge 新杢橋 we can almost see in the distance. Are those greenish yellow lightning bugs on the next bridge 栄橋 behind us? I have no idea what those pink things are, though.
For your local community to be so considerate that it would think of beautifying these little bridges in the way they have is commendable. Actually, it just knocks my socks off.
Pink mimosa flowers?
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely, lovely little bridge!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Cho-Cho ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's so pretty!
ReplyDeletegreat mosaic butterfly on the bridge

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for the comments! I'm glad you enjoy the butterflies, too :D
ReplyDeleteT, it is a river, although unless it rains the level of water is very low. Not even ankle deep at times!
Lovely!!!
