A lot of houses are built right along the river here.
Some of you may remember the Some No Komichi event I posted about last year (here). They will once again have the dyed cloth hanging all along the river next weekend (Feb. 17 (fri)-19 (sun)) to promote the culture of dyeing goods, which was one of Shinjuku's largest industries in the Showa period. So if you're in the area, come to Shinjuku next week!
And for those of you who are too lazy to get on a plane and fly over here...no worries, I'll have photos for you! haha.
Happy weekend everyone!

This is a wonderful image - beautifully composed and the subject is so interesting.
ReplyDeleteFantastic capture of the reflections, Kaori!
ReplyDeleteI read about that event on your blog last year, and I actually dinkum made a note to go this year! まじまじ!:D Still looking forward to your photos though!
ReplyDeleteIt must be nice to have the water so close by, though a shame there is no direct access to it.
ReplyDeleteExcellent reflection, this place could be here...
ReplyDeletePerfect reflections Kaori, and I'll wait for your pictures as I'm a big scaredy cat when it comes to flying!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful reflection and your photo, too.
ReplyDeleteRegards and best wishes
I'll fly if you send the ticket. Is waterfront property considered prime real estate?
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely photo and place.
ReplyDeleteLovely reflection!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with VP. It could be in France too. Lovely reflection!
ReplyDelete(Lazy???? :-))
I like your angle on this one.
ReplyDeleteThat quaint and rusted old stovepipe and the frost-browned ivy covering the wall made me curious. “Is that a dye factory?” I wondered. I still don’t know but it doesn’t look so much like a residence (except the second floor?). What do you think?
ReplyDeleteYou know, if you wander by that lot while there are oranges under the tree and helped yourself to a few it wouldn’t so much be poaching as tidying up the street. Ha ha.
Feels as if time passes a bit more slow at this place. Thank you for this journey. Please have a good Sunday.
ReplyDeleteI remember that! I can't wait to see your shots of it this year! - I love the reflection of the buildings on the water! A very classical composition.
ReplyDeleteGreat reflection, and since I can't visit I'm looking forward to seeing the dyed cloth photos!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.. the reflection is superb! I love it! Will you consider entering it in my 'Weekly Top Shot' meme? We're on Week #17 and I'd love to see you share with me and my readers! Here's this weeks' link: http://www.theviewfromrighthere.com/blog/?p=6220
ReplyDeleteI came back to look at the light in your photo. Are those ducks in the water? Where the water level changes there should be some soft waterfall-like sounds. Just the place koi like to get an oxygen fix. That bridge must be for the train.
ReplyDeleteLiving near a river like that might be kind of nice (barring floods).
The building that caught my eye above might be connected to an antique retailer somehow. (Same company name as on maps, somewhat different location... Home vs. work? A move?...)
Great reflections!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day!
I wish I could be at this festival. I'm so glad you'll post pictures from this year. Beautiful reflection.
ReplyDeleteI really like how there's always something new around the corner in Shinjuku. You picked a good plum for your blog theme. :)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty reflections. I'd love to live right next to the water.
ReplyDeletewow! it's just pretty kaori chan.
ReplyDeleteenough light and shadows makes this picture perfect.
i wish ours looks as inspiring as this! haha.
can't wait to see the dye event you're going to have...
Looks lovely. I guess the houses here are expensive
ReplyDeleteWonderful composed image with a very beautiful reflection!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful reflections you have captured here! The locale reminds a little of Europe along one of the riverways!
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful shot!
ReplyDeleteWow, the river is so still. :D
ReplyDeletenice view , looking forward to seeing your photos !
ReplyDeleteKaori,
ReplyDeleteThis is a perfect mirror image!!
I remember "Some No Komichi" very well as I wanted to see it.
Water of the river must be clean, I guess. I am waiting for your report.
