A bench for two at Nakai Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line.
It was a really sunny day and it felt really great sitting on this bench, which is usually occupied by people waiting for the next train, like I was this day.
Aww! The bench looks so lonely unoccupied like that, but I bet it doesn't stay that way for long. That's a cool way to document your day. Things won't always look this way but you will have your photos to show what it used to look like. There have been a couple of times recently when I was able to refer back to my photos to see how things used to look. It is not only interesting but also a real treasure to have and be able to share with others.
I love the soft, mottled sunlight patches. The bench looks like a beautiful modernist sculpture. Considering what the bench is sitting in front of you might say that while Paris has the Louvre, Nakai has the Louver.
How often do you see a train station in Tokyo with three people waiting on the platforms? It looked like more people were using Nakai Station 87 years ago. Of course, off to your right, as you are sitting down, it probably looks something like this.
Another beautiful composition. I often wish I could sit at a train station all day and simply photograph commuters, but then I remember those signs that say, "Please report any suspicious object to the station office ... " ;)

Looks like this bench gets a lot of use!
ReplyDeleteI hate airports but love train stations.
ReplyDeleteNow really, you have to stop scratching benches!!! :-) Love the geometry in the first shot!

Ah it's always so nice when you have to wait for a train to find an empty bench to have a seat, I should imagine it doesn't happen often Kaori.
ReplyDeleteA bit like from a movie. And yes, I do enjoy much having a seat on a bench during afternoon.
ReplyDeletePlease have a good Wednesday.
If that were in my town, the seat would be occupied during business hours by teenagers and graffiti!

ReplyDeleteI love the perspective on that second shot, it makes for a great shot! We haven't seen much sun the last couple of days, but more snow keeps coming.
ReplyDeleteBut there was no one there that day.
ReplyDeleteI like Tokyo when people aren't around. It's so mystifying to wonder where they all went.
Out for lunch, possibly, eh?
Very nice shot, good angle and details! Good.
ReplyDeleteI just discovered your delightful blog. You have an artistic eye.
