Practice Makes Perfect

I walked by Zenkoku Temple the other day and I heard the sound of drums and flutes, which can only mean one thing...Matsuri (festival)!

We all love a good matsuri here in Japan. But it seems I was getting ahead of myself and it was just a rehearsal of the Awa-odori (阿波踊り), a type of traditional Japanese dance, for the Kagurazaka Festival next week.

Can't wait to see them doing their dance in full costume!

  4. Like the sound of the word "matsuri" to describe a festival. I wonder if you're going to be watching the final Women's World Cup today. I'm very excited and hope that this year's tournament brings more attention to the game!

  6. what fun and it is so cool you now from the music when a festival is happening. this is so different than the city I live in where you must watch the papers to find out about the next event and then drive to it

  8. That definitely looks festive, and so Japanese with the lanterns. I can't wait to see photos of the actual festival, including the costumes, if you make it!
